Going Back to School

I currently have a BA in a non-nursing field. I am wanting to go back to school to work on being an RN. My intentions are to continue on to get an MSN, perferrably as an NP or CNS. Since my intentions are to pursue an MSN, does it make a difference whether I have an ADN or BSN. Will not pursuing a BSN affect me? I would appreciate any recommendations.
