How useful is a PDA?

Hi Everyone!
I received information on a PDA as a recommendation from my faculty to help me during my clinical rotation. Has anyone used this while they were in school? If so, what does it do for you? Any insight would be really appreciated, money is tight and I dont want to waste it! Thanks!
