Fill a shadow box with mementos from previous travel assignments to hang on the wall. This may sound like a cleaning tip, but it’s actually an easy and cheap decorating tip. Clearing the counters and surfaces—from the piles of mail in the entry way to the clothes and knick-knacks scattered in every room—will give your apartment a clean and modern upgrade. Besides, clutter and a mobile lifestyle just don’t mix. Designate areas for all of your belongings, like having a basket for mail and magazines or only displaying your favorite pictures and collectibles and storing the rest in a closet.
