California
“I love being so close to the ocean here in California. The scenery is amazing and I am able to take my four wheeler out to the dunes, go kayaking or even ride my bike through the vineyards.” ~Jeff Schulcz, RN

Some reasons why Access Nurses travelers love California:

  • Relaxed lifestyle: There’s an easy-going aura about California cities that must be experienced. Maybe it’s all the sunshine that melts away the stress.

Traveling with Pets

I traveled for five and a half years and then took a permanent job, but now I want to go back on the road, but have two dogs and would like to take them with me. Let me know how life on the road is with pets. Do your dogs get used to it. Handle the change well? is housing okay? Thanks.

The plethora of organic, locally-grown produce and other foods is shocking, both in their freshness and availability to you. In cities like Miami, Santa Fe and San Francisco, organic products are at your finger tips at farmers markets. Avoid fluorescent-lit grocery stores packed with processed and fatty foods and opt for the rows of friendly faces and organic options at outdoor markets. And you won’t be skimping on variety at a farmers market. Enjoy shopping under a canopy of shady oak trees at the Coconut Grove Organic Farmers Market in Miami, which has a large selection of produce, plus dried fruits, nuts, juices and a raw-food salad bar. Watch local chefs demonstrate cooking techniques using all locally-grown ingredients at the Santa Fe Farmers Market. Browse through the renovated 1898 ferry terminal that houses the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in San Francisco, renowned for its organic produce, jams and breads.
Put Some Green in your Lifestyle
Featured Cities: Portland, OR; Austin, TX; and Chicago, ILGoing green doesn’t mean you have to eat tons of tofu or avoid cars like the plague. Embrace some green changes that can easily fit into your daily routine. The best travel nurse destinations for going green are Portland, Austin and Chicago. By choosing bikes over cars for transportation, developing advanced green energy sources and encouraging recycling programs, respectively, these cities top the list as the most eco-friendly areas in the country.See what adjustments you can make to your life while on the road. Ask your travel recruiter for jobs in cities that promote public transportation. Cut back on the amount of television you watch each week. Recycle whenever possible—whether at home or work.
