Attainable New Year’s Resolutions

This year, I resolve to…

- Gain weight. At least 30 pounds.

- Stop exercising. Waste of time.

- Read less. Makes you think.

- Watch more TV. I’ve been missing some good stuff.

- Procrastinate more. Starting tomorrow.

- Spend more time at work, surfing with the T1.

- Take a vacation to someplace important: like, to see the largest ball of twine.

- Not jump off a cliff just because everyone else did.

- Stop bringing lunch from home: I should eat out more.

- Start being superstitious.

- Create loose ends.

- Get more toys.

- Get further in debt.

- Not believe politicians.

- Not swim with pirhanas or sharks.

- Wait around for opportunity.

- Never make New Year’s resolutions again.

Snowbird Nursing

Hi,

I just recently finished up my first assignment in Brunswick, Maine which was awesome! I am an RN very new to travel nursing. I would like to travel next to somewhere warm. Maybe Arizona, Florida, or California. If anyone does the snowbird nursing thing and has any suggestions of where I should look I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

The Unknown Reindeer

The game show contestant was only 200 points behind the leader and was about to answer the final question — worth 500 points!

“To be today’s champion,” the show’s smiling host intoned, “name two of Santa’s reindeer.”

The contestant, a man in his early thirties, gave a sigh of relief, gratified that he had drawn such an easy question.
“Rudolph!” he said confidently, “and … Olive!”

The studio audience started to applaud (which the little sign above their heads said to do), but the clapping quickly faded into mumbling. The confused host replied, “Yes, we’ll accept Rudolph, but could you please explain ‘Olive’?”

“You know,” the man circled his hand forward impatiently and began to sing, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer had a very shiny nose. And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows. *Olive,* the other reindeer…”

I had an 8 week assignment in Charlottesville, VA. You’re close to DC, and the drive through the country side is worth any assignment there. The Blue Ridge Parkway is also close enough for a long weekend. I was lucky enough to be in Charlottesville for a snow storm and for someone from NV & TX, I was blown away by the beauty. I flew to New York for a long weekend also.

Already Burnt Out, Please Help!

Hello everyone…I’m new here.

I need help! I’m technically a new grad, I got my RN, BSN this summer. I’ve been working in an intermediate care unit in a small community hospital. Here’s the deal…in nursing school during my clinicals I sometimes thought it was awful how the nurses would talk about their jobs, the patients, and so on…I thought, “I’ll never be that kind of nurse, how can they have no compassion?” Well, I’m becoming that nurse.

I find myself constantly frustrated at work…I hate the fast pace… not being able to even finish one thought before someone tells me something else I need to take care of. I feel like I’m floundering during my entire shift, I start to get caught up, then for every little thing I do I have to chart on 10 different sheets of paper…by doing everything “right” I’m neglecting my patients. I never ever go home thinking that I did a good job and that I did everything thouroughly and correctly. There’s too much!

All I Need to Know About Life I Learned from a Snowman

It’s okay if you’re a little bottom heavy.

Hold your ground, even when the heat is on.

Wearing white is always appropriate.

Winter is the best of the four seasons.

It takes a few extra rolls to make a good midsection.

There’s nothing better than a foul weather friend.

You know you’ve made it when they write a song about you.

Accessorize! Accessorize! Accessorize!

Avoid yellow snow.

Don’t get too much sun.

It’s fun to hang out in your front yard.

There’s no stopping you once you’re on a roll.

The key to life is to be a jolly, happy soul.

Remote Shopping

“Cash, check or charge?” I asked after folding items the woman wished to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse.

“Do you always carry your TV remote?” I asked.

“No,” she replied. “But my husband refused to come shopping with me, so I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him.”
