Austin,Texas - Awesome Place to Work and Live

I’ve been here in Austin,Texas for 3 years now working as ER/Staff, and this place is really remarkable. No wonder it’s rated as the “Best Place to Work and Live.” People from all different walks of life keep coming. In fact, there will be four(4) new area hospitals soon to open. Any Austinites here? Back me up. GO LONGHORNS!!

Career Choice

An older couple had a son, who was still living with his parents. The parents were a little worried, as the son was still unable to decide about his future career. They decided to do a small test. They took a ten-dollar bill, a bible, and a bottle of whiskey, and put them on the front hall table, and hid, pretending they were not home. The father’s plan was: “If our son takes the money, he will be a businessman, if he takes the bible, he will be a priest - but if he takes the bottle of whiskey, I’m afraid our son will be a drunkard.”

So, the parents waited nervously, hiding in the nearby closet. Peeping through the keyhole they saw their son arrive. The son saw the note they had left. Then, he took the 10-dollar bill, looked at it against the light, and slid it in his pocket. After that, he took the bible, flicked through it, and took it. Then, he grabbed the bottle, opened it and took a whiff, to get assured of the quality. Then he left for his room, carrying all the three items. The father slapped his forehead, and said: “Darn. Our son is going to be a politician!”

Traveling and Living in an RV

My husband and I have been traveling for 2 years now. I am tired of packing and unpacking with each assignment. We are considering getting a motor home and living that way. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Broken Lamp

My six-year-old grandson called his mother from his friend Charlie’s house and confessed he had broken a lamp when he threw a football in their living room.

“But, Mom,” he said, brightening, “you don’t have to worry about buying another one. Charlie’s mother said it was irreplaceable.”

Breaking a contract..resign or be dismissed?

I was hired 5 months ago at a hospital, and I received $13,320($8,000 net). Unfortunately, I signed a 2yr contract. I now hate my job, dislike the particular patient population(druggies), and I’m receiving a 2nd disciplinary action today, and because of the disciplinary action, I cannot transfer to another ward, floor etc…TRAPPED!

I’d like to resign but cannot pay back the $13,320 plus interest. Should I let them dismiss me? Has anyone else out here broken their contract, how did they repay, etc…please help with some advice!

Desperate,
Toby

Area 51

You’ve all heard of the Air Force’s ultra-high-security, super-secret base in Nevada, known simply as “Area 51?”

Well, late one afternoon, the Air Force folks out at Area 51 were very surprised to see a Cessna landing at their “secret” base. They immediately impounded the aircraft and hauled the pilot into an interrogation room.

The pilot’s story was that he took off from Las Vegas, got lost, and spotted the Base just as he was about to run out of fuel. The Air Force started a full FBI background check on the pilot and held him overnight during the investigation.

By the next day, they were finally convinced that the pilot really was lost and wasn’t a spy. They gassed up his airplane, gave him a terrifying “you-did-not-see-a-base” briefing, complete with threats of spending the rest of his life in prison, told him Las Vegas was that-a-way on such-and-such a heading, and sent him on his way.

The next day, to the total disbelief of the Air Force, the same Cessna showed up again. Once again, the MP’s surrounded the plane … only this time there were two people in the plane.

The same pilot jumped out and said, “Do anything you want to me, but my wife is in the plane and you have to tell her where I was last night!”
